Where will I live in Ireland while on the Work in Ireland Program?
Housing on arrival
Apply to the Work and Study Ireland program right now and you could be over here within weeks, enjoying work like this! Your arrival program pack includes your first night’s housing in a centrally located hostel. You will receive a voucher with all of your other documents that will cover that first nights bed and breakfast. We will give you a list of hostels with contact details so you can arrange this well ahead of time to coincide with your flight dates.

From this, we highly recommend that you book a couple of further nights accommodation, especially during the summer months, or if you are arriving at a weekend or, if your first few days might include a Friday or Saturday night. This is because Dublin is a very popular destination these days and very often all hostels get booked out!
Housing while on the Work in Ireland Program
The usual choices are house or apartment shares or renting a bedsit/studio by yourself. The most economical will be to share and if you are planning to be based in Dublin, the orientation session will give you good advice about areas of the city, rates and resources. You will probably share with a mix of other participants, Irish students and other international visitors working here. The cost of housing in Ireland varies from one to the other, like most countries, the more you pay, the better it is. However, if you budget approximately 25-30% of your salary each month for housing, you are about right!

Occasionally, you may be offered live in accommodation with your job. This is most likely to occur if you get work in a hotel in a rural area where short term temporary housing is not that easy to locate.

Campus housing is not that cheap during the summer as many of the universities rent out their residences for conferences and as tourist accommodation. Always check with the resource room for the latest updates on housing.

When you head off for a couple of days or a weekend to see another part of Ireland, the network of budget hostels around the country are a great resource as well as the many B&B’s (bed & breakfasts) located in every small village and town in Ireland.
