With the Work in Ireland programme you can apply for any job in any industry. This means you can apply for anything ranging from a 2 month internship, service and retail jobs, hospitality jobs and even more career oriented jobs such as an IT specialist or Marketing Executive. It is important to note however that certain industries, such as childcare, will require for you to be police vetted.
Dublin has quickly become a European headquarters for an impressive list of global companies, including Google, Twitter, Facebook, Air BnB and IBM. Those with language and tech skills may just land their dream job in this highly competitive market, as many previous German participants have done, but plenty of effort is required to get your foot in the door.
Many Work in Ireland program participants succeed in finding work in casual employment, specifically in Ireland’s booming hospitality trade. This includes bar, restaurant, cafe and hotel work. Retail is another big market in the country’s major cities and tourism centres, so there are plenty of options available when working in Ireland.
All Work in Ireland program participants need to come prepared. Arrive with your resume in hardcopy form and on disk, work references and an idea of what type of work you’d like to do. Be sure to bring appropriate clothing for job interviews with you. Some industries in Ireland, such as healthcare, will require you to hold a Police Clearance Certificate from your home country. We would encourage all job hunters to obtain a certificate from your local police department prior to arrival.
