Name: Shawn Shelley, 23yrs
University: University of Wyoming
Length of time here to date: 4 weeks
What job are you doing in Ireland?
I got a job in 5 days working with PRTV! I do lots of different things for them, like administration, application processing and other things like that! I love it as its so close to where I live, just a 10 minute walk!
Where & Who are you living with here?
I live in Rathmines, which is really close to the city and is a great student type village with lots of cafes and pubs etc. I live with 3 Irish students, 1 guy studies film studies, not sure about the 2 girls. They party a lot and are definitely my exposure to Irish living!

Whats your social scene like?
I hang out with other participants from the program that I met at orientation, and also with my room mates. We go out to lots of places and almost most nights! We’ve been out to different pubs and clubs around Temple Bar and Rathmines since I have been here!
Your most memorable thing to date in Ireland?
Well at orientation, I was on my own, and met about 5 other participants that were also travelling on their own, so we all went for lunch together straight after and have been hanging out since!
Can you sum up your experience on the WII program to date?
Most of it is a blur, as I have been going none stop since I got here 4 weeks ago, between getting a job and housing and socialising with lots of new people. I would say that Dublin is fast and busy and quite different to the rest of Ireland.
Advice you would give any students thinking about going on the WII program?
Be flexible and open-minded when you get here and don’t get frustrated if you cant get work or housing straight away. It will happen and it will be worth it! |

U2 postpone the rest of world tour U2 have announced that they have postponed the final Asia-Pacific leg of their 'Vertigo '06' tour due to a family illness.
In a statement on the band's website, tour promoter Arthur Fogel said: "This action is unavoidable due to the illness of an immediate family member of one of the band".
"Any fan of U2 will realise that this decision has not been taken lightly. We will announce further details as soon as we have them," he continued.
U2 were due to begin the 10-date Asia-Pacific leg of their world tour in Auckland on 17 March, with shows in Australia, Japan and Hawaii to follow. |

Ireland's Derval O'Rourke is a world champion.
The Cork athlete has won the women's 60m hurdles at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Moscow.
She won the final in a national-record time of 7-point-84 seconds, three-hundredths of a second inside the mark she had set in winning her semi-final.
“I was nervous,” O’Rourke admitted, “but everything was okay.” |

Ireland takes home the Triple Crown!
Ireland 28.... England 24
Jubilant Ireland skipper Brian O'Driscoll toasted his Triple Crown winners as they celebrated St Patrick's Day weekend with a 28-24 RBS 6 Nations Championship triumph over England.
Ireland completed a clean sweep of home nations scalps and subjected stricken England to their second successive fourth-place finish in the championship.
O Driscoll said: "All the boys are elated. We've improved right throughout the Six Nations and have got better with each game. We have a great team. We rarely play against a poor England team and you only ever beat England by a score - that's how it's been over the last three years. |

St Patrick's weekend drew 1.5m revellers
Organisers of Dublin's St Patrick's Festival attracted some 1.5 million people to the capital for a five-day programme of events last week.
Apart from the showpiece parade on Friday, some 4,000 performers took part in a schedule of music, theatre, carnivals, comedy, street arts and dance.
The festival opened last Thursday evening with an open-air musical spectacle in Smithfield, when the Spanish-Argentinian circus troupe Grupo Puja performed an acrobatic show in a futuristic globe suspended 50ft overhead.
On Sunday, Merrion Square became an open-air circus arena, while a five-day festival market at Wolf Tone Quay offered fresh Irish and international produce, crafts and jewellery.
On Saturday, a Lá Gaelach gave fluent speakers and novices a tour of the city in Gaeilge, while musical tastes were indulged by performances across a range of genres throughout the festival!
